The Dyson PencilWash’s defining feature is its 38mm diameter handle — genuinely pencil-thin by cleaning appliance standards. At 2.2kg total weight (380g when held), it’s designed to reach under furniture as low as 15cm and lies flat at a 170-degree angle.

The filter-free design sets it apart from conventional wet cleaners. Where traditional models trap dirt in filters that can breed bacteria and emit odours, the PencilWash continuously extracts dirty water and debris from its microfibre roller. A precision-engineered 8-point hydration system delivers fresh water to the 64,000 filaments per cm² roller with each rotation.

Specs and performance

The PencilWash runs for up to 30 minutes on a single charge and takes 3.5 hours to recharge. The 300ml clean water tank covers up to 100m² of flooring in low-hygiene mode, paired with a 360ml dirty water tank for extraction.

Two hydration modes adjust water flow for different surfaces and mess types. The high-density microfibre roller spins to tackle wet spills and dry debris simultaneously, promising a quick-drying floor finish.

The battery pack is swappable for extended cleaning sessions, though additional packs are sold separately. Dimensions measure 266.5mm (L) x 198.3mm (W) x 1,158mm (H) when upright.
